I was initially unsure of which firm of builders I would approach for a side extension project. After meeting and speaking with Ian Henderson I felt reassured that Hende was the firm I could trust. Hende provided detailed plans on a proposed extension, re-roofing, new windows, repointing and replacing radiators. It was important to me that one firm could deal with design, planning and carrying out all the works with their in-house team of professionals.

The project involved several stages as they worked from the top to the bottom of the house and Hende’s staff were polite and hard-working throughout. At all stages I was given updates on the progress of the work which I found really helpful in understanding the progress and being able to plan normal life around the work that was being done. If I had any concerns or issues, the team at Hende were quick to respond. Ian and Paul, the site manager, knew all the details which set my mind at ease.

We have to say from quotation stage to start date, right through to completion, we were extremely satisfied with the way the whole project was managed. 

Once we had agreed a price and start date, the site manager kept us updated with progress and any delays be it material or weather issues (of which there was very few).

The best decision we made, was to let the one company manage the whole project: planning, groundworks, building, plumbing, joinery, kitchen and bathroom install. This way there is just one main point of contact. 

We are more than pleased with the final outcome.

We contacted Hende in the summer of 2021 based on their local reputation and visible quality of work. We had noticed many Hende builds in our area and we were always impressed with cleanliness of the site and the quality of the finished product. 

From the very initial conceptualisation meeting with Ian and throughout every stage thereafter there was a sense of professionalism and openness. It was quick and easy to develop a working relationship, this helped to avoid any issues as the build developed, and anything that did arise was dealt with swiftly and together.

There is no denying the quality of workmanship in Hende’s builds. All members of the team are highly skilled, polite and motivated. Having them on site was a pleasure and watching them create our vision was a joy.

We have completed many builds in the past however this is the first time we truly felt that all areas were being taken care of. Attention to detail is second to none and we cannot recommend them highly enough. We very much look forward to working with Ian and the team again in the future.

Undertaking a build on your home is daunting. The disruption and fear that costs would spiral were a concern for us.  After spending a year deciding what we wanted to do, we decided to go ahead.  Ian (owner and designer) was very impressive from the get go.  Our first meeting he walked into the house and immediately pointed out our issues and came up with a design which was different to what we had imagined but a huge improvement.  He was very patient going through our designs and making any changes we discussed with him.  He set out a detailed payment plan for each section of the build so we knew what was coming and when.

The build itself we found very stress free.  Our site manager Paul  was fantastic and always available if we had any queries.  The team of contractors from labourers to electricians were a great bunch.  Always courteous and respectful of the fact that I worked from home. There was some very dodgy singing and the conversations in the background kept me entertained!

The only hiccups along the way were all weather related so beyond anyone's control.

Approximately 5 months after the build started we have the home that has exceeded our expectations.  We have a home that has been built by quality builders to the highest of standards and within the budget as originally quoted.

We can hand on heart say the house has changed our lives and we love it.

We would without hesitation use Hende again and recommend to anyone who is looking for a builder.

Different Class.

Having considered renovation works for a period of time, Hende were one of the builders we considered after recommendations from friends.

From the outset, we were impressed with the journey, advice and help we needed to get the ball rolling. 

Ian's expertise was apparent from day one, with guidance and a considered view as to what we should look to achieve from a build and flow of a house with a new layout. Any issues that arose or needed to be addressed were dealt with in an efficient way, not just with input from the office, but with considered thought from the guys working directly on the project and on site. 

Our build took five months to complete between summer and winter, being managed efficiently with only a handful of days that didn't feature any activity at our home. Provisions to help us live around the work, including temporary setup and plumbing of our existing sink and washer, helped us to function within the chaos and lead a semi-normal life.

With regard to the guys that worked on site,  we couldn't have asked for a nicer bunch of people who were not only dedicated, but were extremely committed and skilled. While we know the boys didn't expect to be offered drinks and snacks every 40 minutes, it was an absolute pleasure to do so - as they are a massive credit to you and your business.

To say we are delighted with the overall result is an understatement, with a vision that was driven by Ian from the early days to go beyond what we thought we could do with our home.

Would we use Hende again? In a heartbeat. We are forever grateful for what you've helped us to achieve, with our friends and guests now asking who we used and being visibly impressed with the work and approach we've experienced.All that's left to say is a heartfelt thank you, until we need you to do the bathroom!

We’d had several quotes and had been let down by several builders prior to us speaking with Ian, I presumed due to us being the other side of Stockport, we would be out of the ‘usual catchment area’ of where Hende primarily work.

We explained the reasons why we were desperate to create a space that was fit for purpose for our family. The location was no problem and he called by to take a look at our plans and discuss how his team work and steps going forward.

Our son is ASD, ADHD and has sensory processing disorder, we had recently made the decision to home school him as we can’t find a school that can accommodate his needs.

But to do this as best as possible we needed a more useable space than what we had.

When Ian called and had a look round, discussed what we wanted, he gave us a few pointers of changes he thought would complement the existing plans we had drawn up and project more, which worked a lot better.

We wanted to knock through from the kitchen to dining room and drop the old cold, leaking conservatory, and replace across the back with a single storey build that was all open plan.

Works started and I was impressed with the professionalism and conscientiousness of all the team, from the lads on the tools, foreman, back-office staff.

The lads on site had obviously been made aware of our son’s disability and what to potentially expect with him as it was a big project and upheaval while the works were ongoing, but they were all great with him and our little girl. A real tell of this was how he interreacted with the lads as he was keeping an eye on works himself, which made us relax a lot more knowing he was.

I work from home a lot so they made sure I knew when the electric would be going off etc or any specific works are going on where I may want to work from an office.

Mention to dad and lad Wayne and Jack though. I know it should be the other way round, but Jack made sure I was always topped up with a brew! While Wayne and myself talked football!

There were a few setbacks and unexpected issues, as is with every building work, but they were dealt with accordingly.

What we now have is a real family orientated living space that we have the option of using together or splitting when required for our son.

Would definitely recommend Hende, the professionalism and courtesy shown by all are a real credit to team Hende.

I now need to work out when phase 2 of a utility room and WC can begin!

It’s been a year since our extension was finished by Hende. They pulled out all the stops to have it all done before Christmas!

Throughout the entire build every person we interacted with from Hende was professional and friendly - clearly a team of experienced trades people. This made the whole process much easier as we’d had our little boy not long before they started, something they were respectful of throughout. 

There was always someone at the end of the phone for us to ask questions to and the whole project was completed bang on time, even though some materials were delayed. 

I wouldn’t hesitate to use Hende again for any future projects - they were absolutely brilliant.

We first met lan at our house during Covid.

Ian was masked up.

The mask had a Hende logo on it.

This was a man who was proud of his company.

And like me, he is a United fan so for the first hour, we debated whether Solskjaer was up to the task - It turns out he wasn’t (as l said on the night).

However, back to the project.

It was a loft conversion and a kitchen/dining room knock through (and quite a lot in between).

I’m only going to echo the previous reviews.

Great team of lads, the work lasted about 7 months from start to finish and by and large it kept to the schedule. 

Were there bumps in the road?

Of course.

Were they dealt with to our satisfaction?

Absolutely!

An example.

It was a very windy Saturday and the temporary tarpaulin sheeting that was now covering the top of our gaff blew off.

And then it started to rain.

However, a phone call to lan who was away for the weekend (unbeknown to me), and it was sorted out within the hour.

He sent one of his Spidermen across, who scaled the scaffold, and it was job done.

Regarding the whole project…

We are absolutely delighted with how it has turned out.

When you are in the middle of it there are some dark days (before work one morning, l couldn’t find my sock drawer and that was tough), but it was worth it in the end.

So, thanks once again to lan and the lads (and the girls in the office).

However, a special mention for joiner Wayne (also a Red).

In those cold winter months, he scraped my wife’s car windows after her useless husband had long abandoned her to fend for herself and gone to work. The man is the salt of the earth, but far from perfect.

I once asked him if he wanted a brew.

He said ‘Yes’ but could l make it for him in his flask.

I didn’t ask him again.

From my first meeting, Ian Henderson made me feel confident that I had made the right decision in asking him for a quotation (recommended by a friend).  Therefore, it was well worth the short wait to have him undertake my job which was a kitchen extension, utility room, cloakroom and porch.  It did not surprise me that every person Ian sent from bricklayers, plumber, electrician, joiner, roofer and ground workers were excellent and I cannot fault them.  To top it all off he even has a lovely Site Manager (Paul) who always either answers his phone or rings you back if you have any kind of query regarding the job.  Also, I was so inspired by Ians men that I had a patio, paths and retaining wall which looks absolutely lovely.  I could go on and on but I guess that you can tell that I am very pleased with the finished job.

It is always difficult to choose the right builder, some of the many questions you ask your self are, have you picked the right builder, is the design right, will the job be done to your own extremely high standards?

We wanted to use a local builder with a track record of delivering a quality job. Our decision to choose Hende was the right one. 

Ian assisted with the design providing valuable advice and guidance. The process was surprising smooth with no problems and was a great start to the building experience. The Hende team were great, nothing was too much trouble. Yes, there were problems during the build (something to be expected with any project) but Ian and the team were always a call away and were able to resolve all challenges thrown at them. Living around a building site is not easy however, the team were very sympatric and ensured as far as possible we were not inconvenienced, given the circumstances it was not too bad. 

The quality of the finished work is great and our vision of how it would eventually look has been exceeded. I would have no reservations in recommending Ian and his team if you are considering having works done to your property.

We naively bought a house requiring complete renovation during the lockdowns of 2020. Ian visited the house before we bought it and helped us work through designs making some great suggestions and reassured us the work could be completed whilst we lived in the house.

The renovations started 6 months later and despite the challenges of covid and material shortages the Hende team did an amazing job of keeping the work on track. They worked round us, ensuring we always had access to amenities. During the build we adapted elements of the design, spec and added in additional work, Ian and the team always accommodated any changes and the result is now a fantastic new home.

Big shout out to the amazing team, especially; Paul our site manager who always ensured we knew what was going on and who would be on site, Ged the Electrician who nothing was too much trouble for, Sam the roofer who has created a roof the envy of the street and the joiners Wayne, Aiden, Charlie & Josh whose work was top notch and always kept us amused. Not forgetting Steve and Mark always kept a tidy site.We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hende and would definitely use them again.

Building works of any kind come with stress, apprehension and the unforeseen absolutely guaranteed. Our project was no exception to the rule, but what we did have to alleviate these elements was Ian Hende and his amazing team. You can never eradicate these pressures, but what Ian and Paul Taylor did do was guide us through the process keeping us up-to-date with progress and always being available at a drop of hat to help us when we needed. When things did go wrong, issues were discussed and dealt with in a proactive manner and then resolved with minimal fuss. The build quality in our opinion was fantastic and the aftercare service could not have been better. The team of builders were not only good at their jobs, but also polite and respectful to the fact we have young children as safety was high on our agenda. PROJECT – TWO STOREY SIDE EXTENSION & NEW REAR PITCHED ROOF TO EXISTING EXTENSION.

Hende Building Services recently completed the above works and we are all delighted with the results. We first invited Ian Henderson round to give us a quote for a Loft conversion, however Ian immediately saw the potential for a Two Storey side extension in order to provide a much larger kitchen, an extra bedroom and bathroom. We trusted Ian’s expertise and made the decision to go ahead with the side extension.

The works began in November 2020, and as with all building projects at that time was hampered by the effects of the Covid lockdowns and issues with Building material supplies. 

Despite this from the moment the existing garage was removed the Hende team of quality tradesmen from the Bricklayers, Joiners, Roofers, Plasterers, Electricians and Plumbers provided A1 workmanship throughout the project. 

The Project Manager Paul Taylor deserves a special mention, as from the very start to the sign off he was regularly on site and kept us fully informed and advised us where choices had to be made. He managed the team well, and there were very few occasions where we were without a builder on site.

If we have any future building projects planned we will not hesitate to contact Hende and would highly recommend them to anybody looking for a reputable builder.

We undertook a sizeable two level extension, internal remodelling and re-roofing project on our 100 year old house starting in Feb 2020 with Hende Building Services. Unfortunately, no sooner had the foundations been laid for the extension in March 2020 did the government enforce the first Covid Lockdown. This resulted in a 6 month delay to the recommencement of the building works. Through-out this period Ian kept us informed of potential start dates dependent upon national guidelines. The pandemic resulted in significant delays and issues with material supply chains. Despite this Ian and his team managed the difficulties with the supply chains admirably and always tried their best to work around the problems. 

Ian and Paul (the foreman) were hugely helpful advising us of adjustments throughout project, all of which have resulted in an excellent finished product. During the whole project we changed various elements of the design (including moving a large family bathroom from one end of the house to another) and Ian was very accommodating with all the adaptations and changes. Some of these included taking down load bearing walls requiring RSJs, creating a mezzanine area, moving a bathroom, putting in bifold doors to two rooms on the first floor and putting in Juliet balconies.  All the extra works that we added as the project went on were all very reasonably priced. At no point did the team say it couldn’t be done – they had a real “can-do” attitude and because of their adaptability we’ve ended up with a lovely family home. 

The project itself was meant to take 8 months but ended up taking 18 months given the lockdowns, supply chain issues, isolation issues etc. However, the team were dedicated and very family friendly. Our kids and our dog had a great time during the building works interacting with Ian’s team. 

We have ended up with a lovely family home at the end of our project. We would wholeheartedly recommend Ian and his team no matter the size of your project. We would have absolutely no qualms using them again for any building works we’d ever take on – they were great.

Best Builders in Cheadle!

We chose Hende to build our extension because we had heard all good things about his work and they weren’t wrong.

Ian called round and we designed the extension. He listened to our ideas and with his experience we planned it together.

The team were also very accommodating as we did make a few changes along the way but this wasn’t a problem to them.

All the lads worked extremely hard -we didn’t have the best weather with it starting in October, wet cold and covid, but they battled through….. I’d make sure they were well looked after with brews and bacon butties.

The lads were punctual, polite and very tidy , even our neighbours commented what clean workers they all were.

Their  attention to details is first class and I’m so thrilled to show off my new extension to friends and family, who all love it.

When starting to looking for a builder, we were recommended Hende by friends. After the first meeting with Ian in late 2019, we knew Hende would be the right builders for us. We opted for Design & Build and I have to say, as this was our first big home renovation project, it made the whole process so much easier. 

Our project was a single storey rear extension and after Covid delays, the build began in September 2020. Throughout the build I have been so impressed by the standard of work and attention to detail. We’ve been kept informed by Ian and Paul at each stage of the build, and they have ensured the job kept moving despite any supply issues they may have had. They also worked with the kitchen contractor to ensure we had our kitchen fitted by Christmas.

We rarely leave reviews however, on this occasion we felt it was absolutely necessary as finding a reputable builder is extremely difficult. Our project was a rear ground floor extension with knock through, new porch and garage conversion.

We approached Ian late in 2019 having wasted our time waiting for other builders to view our property and quote for our improvements. We noted from Ian’s social media and friends that he had built exactly what we wanted. We were probably Ian’s first job after lockdown no. 1 starting July 2020. Day 1 was a challenge as the mini digger had to get down the side of our house with 5mm to spare……!!!! But no problem, the digger passed and footings were dug within 5 days. Concrete was poured and then we met the best bricklayers in the world – Jeff and Steve. Jeff and Steve were a pleasure to work with considering we were all at home either working or pretending to home school. They were very conscious of us as a family and explained each step along the way.

Summer soon passed and roofs were constructed and tiled allowing all new doors to be installed. To minimise the mess, a temporary wall was built from wood so we could still use our kitchen. These are the small details other builders would not consider. Electrical work and plastering was all combined allowing good time for our kitchen fitters to start. By end November we had almost completed everything so 5 months in total………amazing……!!!

Our extension with Hende building services started in January 2020. Prior to the building works commencing, Ian had looked at our existing plans and advised us on a couple of changes that would make the space work even better for our family. The build got off to a fantastic start, through all kinds of weather there was much progress made and we had much of the exterior building work and roof timbers on before everything had to halt due to the first lockdown. 

This is where Ian and Paul made exactly the right decision to put all work on hold. As a family it made us feel very safe and whilst it was a shock to everyone at the time, Hende building services then went on to prove just how professional they are. Once able and with things back on track, Ian, Paul and the team went above and beyond to complete the work despite the set backs of building supplies not being as readily available and having to consider additional health and safety implications for all involved. 

Throughout the build it was clear to see the building work was being completed by seasoned professionals who were always happy to answer any questions and guide us on decisions that needed to be made. We decided to extend and reconfigure our home to work better for our family and Hende have helped us do just that. 

We have a beautiful space and our very happy with the final result.

We used Hende for a 2 storey side and single storey rear extension. Like everyone else, we had no idea how the year would turn out.

Throughout the whole build, including the unexpected break for lock down, communication was excellent. Ian and Paul kept us up to date at every stage and were considerate of the fact that we had a baby at the end of lockdown on top of everything else.

All the tradespeople involved have been incredibly professional and the attention to detail and quality of the finish is outstanding.

We have just had a small extension to the ground floor consisting of a shower/toilet and utility room designed and built by Hende Building Services. Right from the start Ian and Paul liaised with us all the way through the build. The work was carried out professionally by qualified tradesmen who were also friendly and respectful. Nothing was too much trouble. During the build several alterations to the original plan were suggested all improving the final outcome. We received a recommendation via friends to use Hende when we were looking for a design & build company for a single storey extension. I liked that I could see regular social media updates and read recent client testimonials, which set Hende apart from other companies we considered.

The design and build service was easy for us to follow, and progressed quickly. Knowing early on that the plans were practical and achievable within our budget was really valuable. We live within a conservation area, so discussing the challenges that posed with Ian in advance meant that our plans were approved first time.

I worked from home during the project and saw that the team treated our home as a home, not a building site. They were considerate of my schedule, and delayed particularly noisy or disruptive activities if needed. 

The project duration was as initially estimated (if you deduct enforced time away from site due to lockdown). This is a remarkable achievement considering the various logistical/supply chain challenges posed by the pandemic.

We just wanted to say a very big thank you to you and your amazing team for working so hard in order to get all the appliances plumbed in and back on in order for us to get back home before the lockdown. Your team are a credit to you; groundsmen and bricklayers did a fantastic job in all weather, protecting and keeping our next door neighbours pathway clean and tidy. The joiner was very professional, explained everything to us in layman terms and left everything tidy. The plasterers working well into the night to get the job done. The kitchen fitter did an amazing job and we’ll certainly be asking him back to fit our utility room. The electrician gave us some good ideas on where the switches and sockets should go. The plumber and gas engineer had no issues with the us moving the boiler and gas hob along with the additional radiators we needed. You do have a great team and I apologise if I’ve missed anyone.

Everyone kept us informed on every step of the process. We’re looking forward to when we are all able to get back to some form of normality so that you can finish phase 1 of our project.

The additional room you have help us create is phenomenal and has improved our family life no end - our daughter certainly loves running round the island. It’s just a shame that we are all going through this unprecedented times and we’re not able to entertain anyone over the Easter Bank Holiday.

We’ll certainly be back in contact in order for you to start phase 2 of the extension.

Single Storey extension - Open plan kitchen/ Utility/ Downstairs bathroom/ Garage/ Patio 

This is the first major extension we have commissioned, so decided to get planning permission before we started looking for builders.

Once we received planning permission our priority was to find a reputable builder. Ian put our minds at rest with his experience and explained the process thoroughly, suggesting  changes to the plans to make the build even better. 

 In hindsight using Hende for both design and build may have been more efficient especially given Ian's local knowledge of planning in Cheadle Hulme conservation zone.Despite the wettest summer on record (2019) Ian and team made solid progress and we were pleased to get most of the work over the line for Christmas.

We have recently had a ground floor rear extension, garage conversion along with the heating system replaced throughout our home.

We decided to use Hende following  recommendations and having seen numerous examples of their work in the area.

We were looking for a contractor to complete a rear kitchen-diner extension, knocking down our conservatory and building across. After receiving several quotes we were immediately impressed with Ian’s approach and decided to go ahead.

This change actually improved the look of the design and we are delighted with the end result. When considering who to use for our extension we asked around and everybody who had used Hende recommended them – their reputation is hard earned and well deserved. The fact that they are a member of the ‘Federation of Master Builders’ provided an extra level of comfort so we contacted them for a quote. Straight away it was apparent that Ian and his team are hugely experienced; easy to deal with; honest about the process; and, that they would be with us every step of the build. Ian provided us with a timely and competitive quote (we had five quotes) which we now realise offered fantastic value given the quality of the completed build.

The quality of the workmanship is evident throughout, all the tradesmen took real pride in their work and as importantly for us they were fantastic, friendly and considerate with our two children both of whom are under five (and the challenges that brings). Our son still looks out for the Hende vans to wave hello to the team!

Throughout the build they were flexible and understanding about our ‘last minute’ changes, were always there when we needed to talk to them, and through their experience were happy to offer constructive ideas about potentially enhancing the build. They were considerate and respectful with our neighbours and brilliant at working with other contractors (kitchen/flooring) to ensure the process went smoothly.

The payment schedule was communicated in advance of the build starting and was stuck too, meaning we could plan our finances accordingly.

We identified Hende as a potential builder to reconfigure our existing extension from observation of local building projects they were undertaking and reviews on the internet. From our initial meeting with Ian to completion we have felt that we made an excellent choice.

Ian opened up possibilities we had not thought of to achieve our objectives and enabled us to agree a plan that was both aesthetically pleasing and practical. The contract we signed was straightforward and the stage payments were clear.

Throughout the building work we were inconvenienced as little as possible. The craftsmen were all friendly and respectful of our home. This even when, in the early stages of removing part of the roof and gutting the existing extension, the weather made their lives difficult. The quality of the work they did was consistently good. When the work was completed the area in front of the house where materials had been stored was completely cleared and washed down. Any such building project is disruptive but Hende made it comparatively painless.

We have recently had an extension completed by Hende Building Services and we are delighted with the end result! It all started when my brother-in-law drew up some plans for us. My husband and I started talking about who we would get to do the build. I knew Ian before our build began because he used to live opposite my parents. Ian had completed an extension on their house a number of years back. I wanted a builder that I knew I could trust.

I met with Ian to talk about our ideas and he didn't seem phased by the plan. He told us that if we wanted him to carry out the work that it could begin in the Spring which suited us perfectly. However, Ian suggested that we get other quotes from other local building firms so we could make comparisons and be sure he was the man for the job. I phoned a number of building firms to get quotes and discuss our plan as Ian had suggested but felt uneasy about using a builder that I didn't know.

The first builder I contacted, met with me but said he didn't think he could do the design and began changing our original ideas which we were not happy with. The second builder, arranged to meet me but then didn't turn up and later contacted me to say he had forgotten! When he did finally come round, he couldn't give a clear idea on the start time and was unsure of some aspects of the design. By this point, I knew that I was wasting time and rang Ian straight away.

Before the building work began, Ian visited me to go through the initial plans. We would be living in our house throughout the build with two young boys. Ian reassured us that this would not be a problem and that his team would make sure that we were left with everything necessary before they left the site and that disruption would be kept to a minimum. In fact, for our children it was great, they loved watching the workmen and the diggers! They became good friends with the guys and would wave to them when they saw them through the window. They were amazed at the building process and would be excited to come home from school each day to what had been done to our house. I can honestly say that the workmanship was of a very high standard.

All members of Hende's team are skilled tradesmen and we couldn't fault the work that was carried out on our home. At all times we felt at ease with every member of the team. They are all very trustworthy, friendly and polite. We had a lot of laughs with them whilst the work was being done as they were so easy going and approachable.

Special thanks to Ian, Paul, Tommy, Gary, Harry, Aidan & Charlie and everyone who helped to make a fantastic new room in our house. We have a large roof window and bi-folding doors that we can now open out onto the garden. We were able to use the room in the summer and it was just how we imagined. We didn’t really know where to start when we decided to extend and renovate our kitchen.  With so many building firms in the local area we didn’t know which to approach.  We were recommended Hende Building by a work colleague and are really happy that we took their advice.

After deciding to extend our three bed semi, we had numerous quotes from several Builders.  There wasn’t much difference between the quotes, however, Hende Builders were actually a ‘one stop shop’, providing the Architect, submitting plans, supplying the Roofer and the Heating Engineer which was exactly what we were looking for.

"Following a recommendation we chose Hende Building to complete a two storey bungalow extension. The dorma was extended which converted a bungalow into a two storey house. This increased the overall floor space by over 50% which effectively ‘life proofed’ the house for us.

The project build was delivered successfully both in terms of architects specification and cost budget. Throughout the project we were kept up-to date on progress which included some good advice on recommendations for fixtures and fittings. Ian and the team we found to be very personable/knowledgeable. Where a few technical build challenges did occur these were overcome with solutions that did not materially compromise either the end vision/total cost. Total build time for project was 6.5 months which was longer than original duration estimate however this was mostly driven by the adverse winter weather.

"Turning a decade of dreaming about an extension into reality was actually far more straightforward than we’d ever imagined. A fairly brief chat with Ian and a couple of sketches on a scruffy piece of paper later and we were hooked. We spoke to other builders and obtained several quotes but realistically we were never going to use anyone other than Hende. They weren’t the cheapest but neither were they the most expensive and Ian’s enthusiasm and drive left us in no doubt we were doing the right thing.

From day one every single tradesman who has worked on our extension has been polite, hard-working, conscientious and tidy. It was a pleasure having them all coming and going during the build and we missed them being around when they’d finished. The quality of workmanship was of an extremely high standard and on the odd occasion where this slipped even slightly, Ian was in and having it put right before we’d even had the chance to flag it up. Ian was also very flexible during the build. Last minute changes like taking out a chimney breast and changing all the doors were just taken in his stride and we were never made to feel like we were interrupting the work schedule.

The additional work meant the main work was due to be finished just a couple of days before Christmas but Ian promised all along that it’d be ready, and it was. This meant two days of fairly intense work going on but despite this final push, there was no cutting corners or compromise on quality.

I wouldn’t hesitate having Hende come and work for us again in the future and wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to anyone looking to have similar work carried out.

We now have an amazing living space, even better than the one we’d dreamed about. I can comfortably say that without Ian’s guidance and the attention to detail of all the tradesmen, I don’t think it would have been this good.

I met in late 2014 to obtain a quote for a single storey extension. Immediately I felt that Ian would be one of the two builders who we would select. He came over as both professional and honest and provided the quote as requested. Not the cheapest and not the most extensive, but you get for what you pay for.
As we needed a company that would be able to project manage the whole process from start to finish, we felt Ian was able to give us that requirement and was therefore chosen. For us communication was key along with a well-defined plan. Each week you would be advised of what was being planned and any changes would be notified in advance.

Work started in late June 2015. We found the builders were all competent and started work usually at 8am or earlier. Quality was good and the team all knew their role and responsibilities. Even after the last skip was removed from the road, “Steve” still came back to sweep the road in front of the house. The work was completed in early Oct 2015 with some minor snagging items to finish off.

As in any build there were some issues but it is the way Ian dealt with them, which gains our high recommendation.
Should we move and decide on another extension Ian and his team would be our chosen suppliers.
